Hi Simon. I tested the walking strategy this year in the Lakeland 100 which I completed for the second time. Last year I chose to run walk all the way around but was interested if switching between the two caused a slower walking pace. This year I ran and walked the first 30 miles as the cut-offs are tighter but then only fast hiked for the rest. This resulted in a 15 mins faster finish time and back end splits plus easier energy management over the whole race.
